Keyword Research for Romanian Businesses: The 5-Step Method

How to find the keywords your Romanian customers are searching for, without paying for expensive tools, and how to turn them into traffic-generating pages.

Why most keyword lists are useless

I’ve seen dozens of Romanian websites optimised for terms no one searches for: "integrated business solutions", "premium personalised services". Your client types something else into Google: "how much does a presentation website cost", "dentist Cluj emergencies", "moving company Bucharest price".

Step 1: Create the list in the customer's language, not yours

Open a document and write down exactly what people ask you on the phone. Those questions are keywords.

    • "do you also provide hosting?"
    • "how long until the website is ready?"
    • "do you work with small businesses too?"

Step 2: Expand with Google's suggestions

Type the main term into Google and note down:

    • autocomplete suggestions
    • the "People also ask" section
    • related searches at the bottom of the page

Here you'll find 80% of what you need, for free.

    Step 3: Separate intent

Divide the list into three groups:

    1. Informational — "how to choose a website" → blog articles
    2. Comparative — "WordPress or custom site" → comparison pages
    3. Commercial — "website design company Cluj" → service pages

Don't try to sell in an informational article and don't write essays on a commercial page.

Step 4: Prioritise by relevance, not by volume

A keyword with 40 searches per month and clear commercial intent brings in more money than one with 5,000 general searches. First, choose terms where you have a real service to sell.

Step 5: One page, one topic

Each group of closely related keywords receives a single page. If you have three pages for "presentation website creation", they compete with each other and none of them rank.

    Common mistakes

    • Inconsistent diacritics in titles and URLs
    • Duplicate city pages, with only the city name changed
    • Lack of a frequently asked questions section, exactly where the real intent lies

    What's next

Once you have the list, map it to your site's structure and write content that fully answers the question. The rest (links, speed, local signals) amplifies what you’ve already built.
