Remarketing in Google Ads: how to win back visitors who didn't buy

97% of visitors leave without contacting you. Remarketing is the cheapest way to bring them back — if configured correctly.
The logic behind it
A person who has visited your service page already knows you. The cost of convincing them is several times lower than that of a new visitor. That's why remarketing almost always has the best cost per lead in the account.
The segments we always build
- All visitors, 30 days — broad base, brand message.
- Viewed service page, didn't submit form, 14 days — message with offer and proof.
- Started form and abandoned, 7 days — the most valuable segment.
- Existing customers — we usually exclude them, so as not to pay for nothing.
Frequency: where most people go wrong
A banner shown 40 times in three days doesn't convince, it irritates. Limit it to 3-4 impressions per day and rotate creatives every 2-3 weeks.
Messages that work in Romania
- "Price estimate in 24 hours" — concrete, no obligations
- "See 3 websites delivered in your field" — proof, not a promise
- "You pay after you approve the design" — reduces perceived risk
Avoid permanent discounts: teach the audience to wait for a discount.
Campaign structure
Separate the Display network from Search remarketing (RLSA). These are different budgets and intentions, and mixing them makes reporting impossible.
What you track
Not impressions, nor CTR. Track cost per qualified lead and return rate per segment. If a segment doesn't produce leads in 30 days, stop it.
Legal, in short
You need consent for cookies and a clear privacy policy. Without the consent banner correctly configured, your lists will be incomplete anyway.
